Insulation Survey

Our Insulation Survey finds places where energy is being lost due to missing or weak insulation in the outer shell of a building. These defects can usually be repaired with the addition of batts, blown in insulation, or expanding foam depending on the size and location of the defect. We suggest repair methods but do not make repairs ourselves in order to maintain our neutrality as a test and inspection company. Our written report along with infrared photos is all most insulation contractors need to do the repairs. Insulation surveys can pay for themselves over the cost of just having a contractor add insulation to random suspect areas. Many times homeowners can do repairs on their own using our report as a guide. In cases requiring attic access, we recommend hiring a qualified insulation contractor due to the difficult access and fall through hazard of walking in an attic. We perform insulation surveys for builders, insulators, and homeowners on residential and commercial buildings as well as refrigeration equipment. The photos below illustrate typical problems that an insulation survey can discover.

Our insulation survey is a popular service in this era of rising energy prices and can find problems that will pay for themselves in a single heating or cooling season in Colorado. With overall natural gas prices approaching $1.50 per therm (100,000 btu), even a small insulation gap can end up costing $50 or more per month in wasted energy.
